The Move to Casper
In 1947, Curt and Lou Taubert (his son and new business partner) opened up a branch store in Casper under the name of Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters. This original Casper store stood on the corner of Midwest and Center Streets, and served Downtown Casper with the high quality merchandise and customer service that has always been the trademark of the Taubert stores. Over the next 20 years, Curt divided his time between his ranching interests at Ft. Laramie and the business in Casper.
Working together, they were always proactive in running the business, planning promotions, events, and making shopping at Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters fun. Their aim was to build up a business based on the confidence of brand names, and as a result, Lou Taubert recieved a Certificate of Distinction from the Brand Names Retailer of the Year competition in 1961 in New York City.
With as much dedication as he put into his business, Lou still had time to raise a family. In 1952 he married Pauline Pivik, who was instrumental in running the store as well, and together they had six children over the next several years: Kurt, Lou Jr., Carlene, Anita, Frieda, and Robert.
